I still think they should build out a lunar crater radio telescope out there on the dark side of the moon. The radio silence and scale would be impossible to get any other way.

I have a friend who lived a whole, many decade-long life in a vivid dream once. It had profound beneficial impact on her actual life.
Whether real or not, you should document it and try to understand the deep personal meaning from experiences like that.
If Musk wants to put money into getting us a reasonable RCV system or the like I won’t stop him. But I suspect he means to replace the Republican Party with something even more fascist, and himself in charge.
That’s both the strength and horror of LLMs. They are super good at presenting information in a pleasing way to the user… but can you trust that what it says is correct?
To the majority of humans, a pleasing presentation is treated as evidence of truth, despite that being a logical fallacy.
It’s not a normal choice of game controller but people have played games with weirder.
Not sure if you’re new to this or what, but money buys a shitton of power in the US, and Musk has plenty of money.
Not necessarily, but everyone having access to cheap labor AND raw materials would ensure that.
Now I’m not going to pretend that AI is anywhere close to being a source of cheap labor. It really can’t do much without a human to assist it.
I’m not entirely sure of that. While corporate AI would certainly cause that, right now there are open weights models which can be run on a relatively affordable computer, and they are not that far behind. These models are able to democratize AI benefits rather than concentrate it.
Oh for sure, but what I’m saying is that the message is “don’t be satisfied doing housework, you’re a princess even if you don’t know it” which subverts the stereotypical expectation they set up in the first act.
I actually think it’s the other way around. Their initial responsibility is one of traditional gender roles, but they all throw that away and become something far beyond what society expected of them.
Exactly. Racism would be “China’s government is bad, therefore my Chinese neighbor deserves to be ejected from my country.” That sort of logic is not in short supply in my neck of the woods.
Criticizing a government is okay. Using that as justification to persecute unrelated people is not okay.
surely people are smarter than that
I got bad news for you…
I’m not entirely sure that’s a bad thing. ChatGPT is, if nothing else, decent at writing in a respectful, professional manner.
The substance is lacking of course, but it IS good at stringing together words.
Because they know they are on the wrong side of history. It’s the same reason why ICE agents hide their faces.
Or shirts apparently
China has a big problem with selling an identical product fifteen times through twelve different companies.
I think it’s an SEO strategy for Amazon, where they edge out any competition by being everywhere on the first page of search results. They also have the ability to game reviews by killing any products that get bad reviews and recreating them under a new brand.
The movie had themes about AI revolution, while the book was around robopsychology. Since this anecdote was about an AI gaslighting itself, it’s far more appropriate than the movie thematically.
Claude eventually resolved its existential crisis by convincing itself the whole episode had been an elaborate April Fool’s joke, which it wasn’t. The AI essentially gaslit itself back to functionality, which is either impressive or deeply concerning, depending on your perspective.
Now THAT’S some I, Robot shit. And I’m not talking about the Will Smith movie, I’m talking about the original book.
If you wear a skirt, your gender disappears.
The dark side of the moon is shielded from the planet’s radio by the whole moon. So it’s a pretty attractive place to set up.
Plus, several candidate craters have favorable geometry for a massive radio telescope.
It truly is one of my favorite proposals.
